Abstract

ABSTRACT

Light microscopy of the blood smear of Mantis religiosa inornata Werner (1930) was done to investígate the types of hemocytes present in the adults. The result shows the presence of four types of hemocytes. These are prohemocytes, plasmatocytes, granulocytes and spherulocytes. The hemocytes show variations in their morphology and count. The views of some authors regarding insect hemocytes have been discussed in relation to the hemocytes of mantis.
