Addition to the herpetofauna of Royal Manas National Park, Bhutan, with six new country records

Abhijit Das

We present the results of a rapid assessment of herpetofaunal diversity from Royal Manas National Park, Bhutan. Visual encounter surveys, opportunistic searches, and pitfall traps were conducted for four field days to document the amphibian and reptilian diversity. 20 species of amphibians and 29 species of reptiles were recorded during the survey. Specific identity of two species (Philautus Sensu lato. and Eutropis sp.) remains to be ascertained. The following species are new additions to the herpetofauna of Bhutan: Uperodon globulosus, Ingerana borealis, Calotes maria, Cnemaspis assamensis, Ptyctolaemus gularis and Varanus salvator.
